Drivers traveling on I-40 in Putnam County should be aware of upcoming road construction activities that will have an impact on traffic. Thursday (January 30, 2025, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm local time, Tennessee Department of Transportation maintenance crews will perform a mobile pothole patching operation requiring temporary closures in the right lane of I-40 in both directions from mile marker 290 to mile marker 304.
Drivers are encouraged to use caution as they travel through this area and expect significant delays, specifically on Monterey Mountain. Signage will be posted directing drivers through the work zone. This work is weather-dependent. Should inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances cause delays, it will be rescheduled to take place at a later date.
