It was a successful weekend for the Men’s and Women’s basketball teams of the University of Tennessee. It started Saturday with a Checkered Boarded Food City Center as #8 Tennessee hosted #5 Florida. Then Sunday the 18th ranked Lady Vols travelled to Columbia to take on Missouri.
Rick Barnes and his 8th ranked Volunteers were able to avenge their 30 point loss to Florida back in January. Tennessee defeated the Gators 64-44. The Vols had three players in double digits with Chaz Lanier with 19 points, Jordan Gainey with 16 points, and Felix Okpara with 10 points. The Gators leading scorer was Walter Clayton Jr, who had 10 points. The Vols return to action Wednesday to host #20 Missouri coverage can be heard on 102.5 WOW Country.
Kim Caldwell’s 18th ranked Lady Vols travled to Missouri to take on the Tigers in Columbia. It was a tight one but Tennessee held off the Tigers with a final of 76-71. Talaysia Cooper scored 27 points leading the Lady Vols in points. Lazaria Spearman was right behind her with 13 points. Next up for the Lady Vols is a big rival.
