At Least Two Killed in Morgan County in Thursday Night Storms

Deadly storms moved through portions of Middle and East Tennessee Thursday night.

In Morgan County a possible tornado killed a mother and daughter and injured at least three others.  Significant structure damage was reported in the Deer Lodge area and Highway 27, Sunbright area.  Thirty State Troopers were called in to assist with the search for victims and damage survey.

The Fentress County Emergency Management Agency reported trees and power lines down on Jonesville Road in Clarkrange.  And a tree reportedly fell on a house on Burkes Loop in Grimsley.

In Putnam County people were asked to avoid the Hilham area Thursday night as Deputies and Emergency Vehicles worked to assess and clear damage.

In Overton County people were asked to stay home due to numerous downed trees and power lines.

Upper Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation said that due to the extent of damage, customers in the hardest hit areas would not have electricity restored until Friday morning.  They reported poles broken in Putnam, Jackson and Overton counties as crews worked through the night.
