Margie Ison, Knoxville broadcasting legend, has passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Her career began in 1969 at WBIR, alternating between there and WATE during her 32 years covering weather in East Tennessee. She often enlisted the assistance of Cumberland County’s own meteorologist Steve Norris, and many may remember the slogan, “Margie said it would”, a reference to her previous evenings forecast. She was 84. (Photo Margaret “Margie” Jewell Ison, courtesy Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home.)
