Meadow Park Lake considered a prime source for short-term regional water solution

Jeff Dyer, manager of the Cumberland Plateau Water Authority, told board members during their March meeting that city-owned Meadow Park Lake tops the list of potential water sources to supply the region. According to Dyer, the raising of the dam at Meadow Park would be the quickest solution to address water issues on the Plateau. Dyer recently attended a meeting with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and several other parties that included Crossville Mayor RJ Crawford. Dyer reported that TDEC indicated that any permits for a Meadow Park project would receive higher favor if applied for by the water authority over a municipality. He hopes to seek a partnership with the city of Crossville in some capacity in the near future. Dyer added that raising Meadow Park would not be the only solution, but the authority would still need to consider a new reservoir, possible pipelines from Watts Bar, an impoundment on Daddy’s Creek and collaboration with other districts in order to meet future water demands
