The Tennessee Highway Patrol has identified the person who was struck and killed early Tuesday morning on Genesis Road as 28-year-old Courtney D. Chandler.
According to the THP, around 5:47am Tuesday (March 4, 2025), Ms. Chandler was walking south in the 3500 block of Genesis Road. It was dark outside and Ms. Chandler was also wearing dark clothing and had no reflective equipment. A 2014 Toyota Tacoma driven by 60-year-old Paul E. Beaty was traveling south and as it came near Ms. Chandler, Mr. Beaty caught a glimpse of her walking. Beaty attempted to steer away to avoid a collision but was unsuccessful. Ms. Chandler was fatally struck.
The THP reports Mr. Beaty was not injured and no charges are pending.
