Thursday morning (March 13) the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office was notified about a gas leak at the intersection of 4th Avenue and Main Street in Baxter, which is near three schools.
Baxter Fire Chief Matt White has determined these 3 Baxter Schools are a safe enough distance away from the gas leak, and that they are not in any danger. School operations will continue as normal. Authorities will continually monitor the situation and take necessary measures if the gas leak does worsen. (Press release courtesy PCSO.)
