People who travel Genesis Road may have to rely on an alternate route later this year. The Tennessee Department of Transportation will be letting bids for repairs on a portion of Genesis Road between Catoosa Canyon Road and Obed Pines Road just south of the Obed River, on Friday, March 21st. The project will require a complete closure in the affected area, and once contracts are awarded, construction on the project is estimated to begin mid to late summer or fall of this year. An estimate of completion would be approximately 180 days with weather cooperation and no unforeseen problems. Northbound traffic with destinations beyond Catoosa Canyon will need to travel an alternate route, while southbound travelers will detour before reaching Obed Pines Road. Detour signage will be posted along I-40, US 127, State Route 62 and Genesis Road prior to the closure.
