April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and the Crossville Police Department, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and Fairfield Glade Police Department are joining the Tennessee Highway Safety Office and other traffic safety partners to crack down on violators of the Hands Free law.
In Tennessee, it is illegal for drivers to hold a cell phone or mobile device with any part of their body. Violation of this law can result in points on your driving record.
Chief Kate Self of the Fairfield Glade Police Department stated their officers and other local law enforcement be looking closely for those drivers that have chosen poorly and drive while using a handheld cell phone.
