Some public services and resources of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, such as public access to mugshots and press releases, were temporarily unavailable this week after their computer network was possibly the target of a hack attempt.
According to Sheriff Austin Garrett, on Monday morning the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) detected an unauthorized attempt to access their network systems from an external source. Their Information Technology team immediately initiated a full system shutdown to protect the integrity of their infrastructure and safeguard sensitive data and records.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office official website was still unavailable as of Tuesday evening.
Sheriff Garrett said the matter is under investigation and the Sheriff’s Office continues to provide the highest level of law enforcement and corrections services available.
