TBI Investigates Deadly Officer-Involved Shooting in Chattanooga

The TBI is investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting that occurred Friday evening (5/16/2025) involving officers from the Chattanooga Police Department.  The incident occurred around 5:45pm in the 2200 block of Hamilton Place Boulevard. Officers attempted to make contact with three individuals in a vehicle in the mall’s parking lot, when the driver, later identified as 21-year-old Alricko Trimble, Jr., fled and approached stopped traffic near the mall.  Trimble began ramming vehicles in an attempt to escape. Officers approached the suspect’s vehicle on foot and the situation escalated further, resulting in at least one officer firing shots, striking Trimble, who died at the scene, and a passenger, who sustained injuries and was hospitalized. The third individual in the vehicle wasn’t hurt. One of the officers sustained minor injuries in the incident. At this time, this investigation remains active and ongoing.
