Former Tennessee Speaker of the House Glen Casada and his former Chief of Staff Cade Cothren have been found guilty of multiple public corruption charges for their alleged involvement in a bribery and kickback scheme to provide mailing services for House Republican Caucus members.
For her role, former Tennessee State Representative Robin Smith pleaded guilty to one count of honest services wire fraud in 2022 and testified at trial.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Middle District of Tennessee, the 62-year-old Smith is scheduled to be sentenced on June 9th (2025) and faces up to 20 years in prison.
Sixty-four-year-old Casada and 38-year-old Cothren will be sentenced later this year, and they also each face up to 20 years in prison.
Casada, Cothren, and Smith may also be ordered to forfeit any property which represents or is traceable to receipts obtained as a result of the offenses.
