By Paxton Elmore May 27, 2025 | 12:08 PM

Both The Vols and Lady Vols Baseball and Softball teams took one step closer to winning a National Championship.

It started on Sunday when the Tennessee Lady Volunteers led by star pitcher Karlyn Pickens shut out Nebraska in Game 3 of the Knoxville Super Regional to punch their ticket to the Women’s College World Series. Ella Dodge got the Lady Vols the go ahead run in the first inning with a homer to centerfield. Pickens was able to take care of the rest pitching all 7 innings and striking out 10 batters with only 2 hits allowed and 1 walked. Tennessee will take on the defending National Champion Oklahoma in the first round of the WCWS. The Sooners, who are looking for their 5th straight title, will face Tennessee on Thursday at 1:30 PM on ESPN.

Tony Vitello’s Tennessee baseball team will be looking to defend their National Title as a 14 seed in this years tournament. Vols shocked many by being able to host a region after a shaky end to the season. The Knoxville Region consists of Tennessee, Wake Forest, Cincinnati, and Miami of Ohio. The Vols will start the Knoxville Region by playing Miami of Ohio on Friday at 5:00 PM that game can be seen on ESPN+. Cincinnati will take on Wake Forest at 12:00 PM on Friday.
