A Sevier County man is behind bars for the homicide of his brother after he killed the family dog.
The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 1000 block of Indian Gap Road around 8pm Wednesday (May 28, 2025).
Evidence from the investigation indicated that 36-year-old Thomas Josha Carter drowned, mutilated, and incinerated the family dog.
Sometime later Carter is accused of fatally stabbing his brother, 41-year-old Jeffrey Andrew Todd, during a physical altercation.
Thomas Joshua Carter was charged with Second Degree Murder and Aggravated Animal Cruelty and is was incarcerated in the Sevier County Jail, awaiting a hearing in General Sessions Court. (Photo Thomas Joshua Carter, courtesy Sevier County Sheriff’s Office Facebook.)
