On Monday (6/9/2025) Mark Green, U.S. Representative for the 7th District of Tennessee and Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, announced his retirement. Green said he has an opportunity in the private sector that is too exciting to pass up. Green said, “It was the honor of a lifetime to represent the people of Tennessee in Congress.” He plans to resign as soon as the House votes on the reconciliation package.
It’s not clear when the special election will be held to replace Green.
