In an effort to keep the water and sewer fund in the black, the Crossville City Council approved a rate increase of 10 percent for the upcoming fiscal year. While the upcoming budget has a lean positive fund balance, proposed projects could send the budget into the red. The increase will raise the minimum bill from $11.42 for customers inside the city limits, to $12.56. The city is required by state law to operate water and sewer with a surplus.
