The Crossville Police Department has reported sightings of black bears within city limits and is sharing safety reminders from the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA).
TWRA advises residents not to approach bears and to allow them space to move on. In most cases, bears will leave the area on their own. Residents are encouraged to keep pets and pet food indoors to avoid attracting wildlife.
For more information about black bears in Tennessee or to report sightings, visit the TWRA’s website at www.tn.gov/twra.
In the event of an emergency—such as a bear posing immediate danger or attacking—residents should call 911.
