The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will suspend all construction-related lane closures on interstates and state routes from noon on Thursday, July 3, through 6:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7, to provide maximum roadway capacity for holiday travelers.
AAA predicts 1.5 million Tennesseans hitting the road, a 1.8% increase over last year.
Motorists will still encounter some long-term lane closures on construction projects and workers may be on site in zones. Drivers convicted of speeding through work zones where workers are present face a fine of $250 to $500, plus court fees and possibly increased insurance premiums.
