One person died Saturday (July 12, 2025) in an underground incident at the Young Mine in Jefferson County. (Pronounced near star) Nyrstar East Tennessee Mines released a statement saying an in depth investigation is ongoing and they are fully cooperating the Mine Safety and Health Administration.
