Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton has appointed John Floyd to the Middle Tennessee State University Board of Trustees. Floyd, of Murfreesboro, is founder and owner of Ole South Properties, a nationally recognized homebuilder.
Through the John D. Floyd Charitable Foundation, Floyd has donated over $6 million to youth programs, special-needs organizations, and food security causes. He deeded land for Marvin Wright Elementary School and Port Royal Park, funded Oakland High School’s building-trades center, and continues to back the Boys & Girls Clubs, Special Kids, and United Way. Floyd is also a major contributor for facility upgrades at MTSU.
Speaker Sexton said, “John Floyd is the kind of Tennessean we need more of in higher education. He built a company from scratch, poured his success back into the community, and never lost sight of the students coming up behind him. His seat on the Board is a win for every Blue Raider.”
