Crossville City Council approves city EMS

A vote on a city-operated ambulance service mustered enough votes to pass during Tuesday’s regular session of the Crossville City Council. Council members voted 3-2 to move forward with a phased in plan to begin transport and EMS services through the Crossville Fire Department, effective on or around July 1st, 2026. Art Gernt, Mark Fox and Mike Turner voted in the majority while Mayor Crawford and James Mayberry cast votes against. Mayor Crawford said before voting, “This doesn’t need to be a rush job, we need to figure out a way to not burden the taxpayer.” Crawford believes, at best, the move will require a 75 percent increase in property tax.
