On Tuesday (September 9, 2025), the Fentress County Sheriff’s Office, working with agents from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, executed a search warrant at a property in the 3300 block of  Leatherwood Ford Road of Jamestown following a tip about horses suffering from severe malnutrition and poor living conditions.

The Sheriff’s Office reports investigators located 25 horses and 2 ponies in various stages of poor health. With the assistance of Horse Haven of Tennessee and Volunteer Equine Advocates, all animals were safely seized and transported to receive the rehabilitation and veterinary care they desperately need.

The Fentress County Sheriff’s Office thanks the volunteers and partner organizations for their hard work and dedication in helping ensure these animals have a chance at recovery.
