The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reports the body of missing boater, 60-year-old James McTyre, of Vonore, was found Monday morning. Mr. McTyre reportedly went fishing Saturday afternoon (October 11, 2025) and parked his truck and boat at the Ball Play boat landing. His family reported him missing Sunday morning. Deputies located his boat and trailer at the dock. A short time later his boat was found unoccupied about a quarter of a mile upriver. The boat was in drive and the lanyard for the emergency cut-off switch was missing. The engine was not running when it was found.
