A Crossville resident lost $495 to an online scam while attempting to link his Amazon Prime account to his television. The victim told police on Dec. 5 that while trying to enter a code from his TV into his phone, he accidentally navigated to a fraudulent website instead of Amazon. After entering his debit card information, unauthorized transactions totaling $495 were immediately deducted from his account. He has since closed the bank account.
