The Tennessee Department of Safety & Homeland Security reports that more than 40 counties, including Cumberland, are now participating in the Centralized Immigration Enforcement Division (CIED). The Department says 287(g) is a “voluntary partnership between state and local law enforcement and federal immigration agencies which allows designated officers to perform limited immigration functions under the supervision of federal immigration authorities.”  Morgan, Putnam and Van Buren counties are also participating in the program.
