A break-in call on Dayton Avenue led to the discovery of two squatters living in a vacant home. Crossville Police say they arrived to find 37-year-old Joshua Smith hiding behind the front door, armed with a large knife. After a brief standoff, Smith and 24-year-old Andrea Carter were taken into custody. Officers found a pry bar and damage to the locks. While the pair admitted they had been staying there for months, the owner confirmed they had no permission to be on the property. Both face charges of aggravated criminal trespass.
