Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster has signed an order officially merging West Cumberland Utility District (WCUD) into the Cumberland Plateau Water Authority (CPWA).
Mayor Foster said, “With this merger, CPWA now becomes the largest water utility in Cumberland County, serving more than 17,000 customers with 40 employees, $4.7 million in cash, and zero debt. Just as important, WCUD customers will see a 5 percent rate decrease.”
Foster called the merger “a generational decision, made with both today’s customers and future generations in mind.”
Foster also said he appreciates the leadership and cooperation shown by Jeff Dyer of CPWA and Melissa Bryant of WCUD. (Photo courtesy Mayor Foster. L-R, Melissa Bryant of WCUD, Mayor Allen Foster, Jeff Dyer of CPWA)
