The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission (TFWC) has approved modifications to the closed fishing season in Catoosa that will increase the accessibility and fishing days in the Wildlife Management Area. Before the change, all streams and ponds in Catoosa WMA were open to fishing from April to December, except on dates of managed big game and turkey hunts.  Beginning August 1st, 2026 all streams and ponds in Catoosa WMA will be open to fishing except during deer hunts and wild hog control seasons when fishing will be closed.

The Commission also approved the removal of the delayed harvest regulation for trout on the Piney River in Rhea County, and the adjustment of the delayed harvest start date for trout on Big Soddy Creek in Hamilton County to November 1st.
