On Thursday, January 22, 2026 Governor Bill Lee declared a State of Emergency for all 95 counties in Tennessee ahead of this weekend’s winter storm. The storm will move into the Volunteer State on Friday with sleet, freezing rain, ice and snow possible through Sunday. There will also be prolonged freezing temperatures. This will make roads slick and hazardous. Power outages are possible and people should prepare for safe alternate heat sources. It’s recommended that you have 72-hours worth of non-perishable food items, drinking water, medication and pet food. Fully charge cell phones, laptops and batteries before the storm hits. Make sure your pets have a warm shelter and bring them inside if possible. Officials are urging people to stay off roadways to reduce accidents and not hinder emergency responders and road crews.
