More than 2,000 Volunteer Energy customers in Cumberland County were without electricity early Sunday morning as Winter Storm Fern continued to dump freezing precipitation across the region. Most of the outages were south of I-40. Over 900 were without power in Bledsoe County and hundreds more were in the dark in the VEC area. Over 1,000 each in Rhea and Roane counties would wake up Sunday morning without electricity. Crews worked around the clock in the bitter cold to make repairs. VEC was unable to provide an estimated restoration time and thanked customers for their patience.
