FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 PM EST /1 PM CST/ THIS AFTERNOON FOR ANDERSON, BLEDSOE, MORGAN, RHEA, ROANE…

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory in effect until 2PM EST/1PM CST for a portion of east Tennessee, including the following counties, Anderson, Bledsoe, Campbell, Claiborne, Marion, Morgan, Rhea, Roane, Scott and Sequatchie.

* IMPACTS…Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…

– At 1050 AM EST /950 AM CST/, emergency management reported flooding in the advisory area. Overflowing poor drainage areas have already caused minor flooding in the advisory area.

– Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

– Some locations that will experience flooding include… La Follette, Dunlap, Oneida, Jasper, Pikeville, Wartburg, Signal Mountain, South Pittsburg, Jacksboro, Whitwell, Kimball, Huntsville, Monteagle, Helenwood, Fairmount, Jellico, Caryville, Powells Crossroads, Winfield and Sunbright.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
