The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) is providing information about a newly identified opioid known as cychlorphine. It has caused more than 30 fatal overdoses statewide since October 2025.
Cychlorphine is a synthetic opioid, 10 times more potent than fentanyl.
Naloxone, commonly known as the brand Narcan, is a medication that reverses opioid overdoses and is effective with cychlorphine.
