The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday morning (Sunday, March 29, 2026) that it was made aware of a partially decomposed body, found by a group of hikers, near Monterey, at the Eastern end of the county.
Deputies and Investigators are on the scene and their first order of business is to identify the individual as soon as possible. The Sheriff’s Office said they are also working to determine the cause of death and looking back at previous missing persons cases from the past weeks and months from Putnam County and the entire state.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said more details will be released when available.
