An investigation by the TBI and the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in the arrest of a Decatur man in connection to a shooting death that occurred Saturday evening.
Fifty-eight year old Jeffry Kendall Barton was found with an apparent gunshot wound in a residence in the 400 block of Shiloh road in Decatur. Mr. Barton was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Thirty-two year old Tyler Steven Meadows was identified as the person responsible for Baron’s death.
Meadows was arrested Sunday morning (4/5/2026) for Second Degree Murder and booked into the Meigs County Jail.
