Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster announced that a sign was placed Tuesday (May 12, 2026) marking the future home of a new park honoring Cumberland County’s own Medal of Honor recipient, Milo Lemert.  The park will be on Main Street in downtown Crossville between the Military Memorial Museum of the Upper Cumberland and the Chamber of Commerce.

In a Facebook post Mayor Foster said, “Jerry Brownstead has been instrumental in helping bring attention to Milo Lemert and ensuring his story and sacrifice are remembered. I also appreciate the veterans committee that has been working to help the county develop a plan for this project. Thank you to Speaker Cameron Sexton and Senator Paul Bailey for helping secure funding for both the new Milo Lemert park and improvements to War Memorial Park. I also want to thank the many others who have contributed their time, effort, and support to help move this project forward.

This will be a special project for our community, and I look forward to seeing it continue to move forward, including the future statue honoring Milo Lemert and his sacrifice for our country.”
