The Cumberland County Commission has approved a two-year moratorium on new data center development within Cumberland County. According to a press release from County Mayor Allen Foster, the temporary moratorium is intended to give county leaders, planners, utility providers, and other stakeholders time to study the potential impacts of large-scale data centers before any long-term regulations are considered.
