The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspect in Sunday’s robbery of the Old School Store on Newton Road. According to reports, 31-year-old Joshua Alan Ladner allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for a 12-pack of beer. A woman tried to block the exit and was injured when she said Ladner grabbed her, lifted her off the ground, and pinned her against the counter before fleeing the store on foot toward the Lake Park area. Warrants were obtained charging Ladner with robbery. Deputies apprehended Ladner at a Lake Street residence on Monday (6/15/26) and discovered he had an active warrant for felony Violation of Probation out of Walker County, Georgia. Walker County, Georgia confirmed they would extradite. Mr. Ladner was transported to the Cumberland County Jail.
