TDOC Press Release:

The Tennessee Department of Correction is launching mobile community supervision offices, making it easier for individuals on probation and parole in rural areas to meet supervision requirements and access critical resources.

The mobile units bring supervision services directly into rural communities, helping individuals overcome transportation barriers that can make it difficult to attend required meetings and access support services. Equipped with workspace for up to four officers and a private meeting area, the units also provide a safer and more efficient environment for probation parole officers conducting supervision in the field.

“TDOC supervises probationers and parolees in every corner of Tennessee, including rural counties where transportation can be a real challenge,” said Assistant Commissioner of Community Supervision Chris Hansen. “Some individuals don’t have access to a vehicle, and these areas usually lack public transportation. These mobile offices will help us bring supervision services directly to those communities, making it easier for individuals to meet their requirements and stay connected to the resources they need.”

TDOC currently operates two mobile community supervision offices and plans to add a third, allowing the department to provide services across all regions of Tennessee. The expansion will increase the department’s ability to serve rural communities while enhancing flexibility and safety for probation parole officers working across the state.

The introduction of the new mobile units reflects TDOC’s ongoing commitment to public safety and successful reentry. By expanding access to supervision services across Tennessee, the department is helping individuals remain accountable, complete their supervision requirements, and become productive members of their communities.
