Crossville City Council Passes Data Center Moratorium

The Crossville City Council has officially approved the third and final reading of an ordinance placing an immediate two-year temporary moratorium on all new data centers and high-density computing operations within city limits. The decision followed public comments from local residents who urged city leaders to proceed with caution.  Under the newly enacted 24-month moratorium, the city will halt all new conditional use permits, site plans, and building approvals for server farms and cryptocurrency mining facilities. The temporary ban excludes legally established existing facilities that do not expand their footprint or utility capacity, as well as applications previously vested under state law.
