The 2026 season opened up with both schools in Cumberland County traveling on the road.
The Cumberland County Jets headed to Overton County to take on a former district cohort in the Livingston Academy Wildcats. L.A. took the early 21-0 lead and never looking back dropping the Jets to a 55-7 decision leaving the Jets 0-1 to start the year.
The Panthers of Stone Memorial traveled north to a familiar foe in the York Institute Dragons. Just like three out of the last four meetings the game came down to the final possession. After a defensive battle the Panthers started the season in the win column taking down York 21-13.
The Jets hope to get their first win next Friday as they take on Monterey at CCHS. Coverage will be heard on 102.5 WOW Country. The Panthers will have their first home game on Friday hosting Coalfield at 6:30 PM, coverage will be heard on MIX 99.3.
