A Georgia truck driver has been charged following Monday morning’s wreck on I-40 in Cumberland County that shut down the eastbound lanes and snarled traffic for several hours in both directions.
It happened shortly after 10am near the 305 eastbound mile marker, just east of Monterey.
THP, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and the Monterey Police Department responded to the scene and traffic was re-routed onto Highway 70.
According to the THP, 49-year-old Rashad Hodges, was driving a tractor-trailer eastbound and traveled off the shoulder. He overcorrected and the vehicle toppled over on its right side then slid across the roadway, blocking all eastbound lanes.
No injuries were reported. The driver has been charged with Due Care. (Photo courtesy Monterey PD)
