A two-year-old girl has succumbed to her injuries after she was shot on Valentine’s day at a home in Sweetwater, Tennessee. WVLT reports the family of Alayna Butts confirmed the toddler passed away just before noon on Friday. The little girl had been in a coma since she was injured during an exchange of gunfire after four men allegedly threatened to force their way into a home on Hawkins Road in Monroe County. Immediately following the shooting, one of the alleged attackers was dead and four others were injured, including little Alayna.
Shooting suspect Liu Huerta, age 26, was placed on a $2 million bond on Friday. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office took another person into custody on February 14 but did not release that individual’s name. Authorities also did not immediately say if they are looking for other suspects in the deadly shooting.
