Two expelled members of the Tennessee House of Representatives have been reelected to their seats. Both Justin Jones and Justin Pearson claimed victory in Thursday night’s Special Election. Jones, Pearson and Representative Gloria Johnson became known as the Tennessee Three for their loud protest on the House floor following the Covenant School shooting in Nashville that left three 9-year-old students and three adults in their 60’s dead. Due to their outburst against gun violence, the trio faced expulsion but Johnson managed to keep her seat. House members kicked out Jones and Pearson, however, both men were reinstated days later. But they were still required to run in the Special Election to keep their seats. With their victories, Representatives Jones and Pearson will be in the special session on August 21 called by Governor Lee to address gun control.
