Coffee County TN Man Arrested on Felony and Misdemeanor Charges for Alleged Actions During Jan. 6 Capitol Breach

A Coffee County man has been arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges related to his alleged actions during the breach of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the District of Columbia, a filed criminal complaint states Allan Jennings, age 56, of Hillsboro, Tennessee, was caught on Capitol CCTV and was among the first three rioters to enter the Lower West Terrace Tunnel in pursuit of retreating police officers.  A police officer’s body-cam reportedly captured Jennings as he used an implement to shatter the glass on the first set of doors inside the Tunnel. Jennings is also accused of putting his hands on an officer’s riot shield and assisting the line of rioters in their push against the police line. Jennings is charged with a felony offense of civil disorder. Jennings is also charged with several misdemeanor offenses, including entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds, and destruction of government property. Jennings was arrested on Sept. 12, 2023, in Hillsboro, Tennessee, and made his initial appearance in the Eastern District of Tennessee. The press release notes that “A complaint is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.”
