TWRA Seeks Meadow Park Lake Anglers Interest in Walleye Stocking; See Link to Survey in This Story

Nov 7, 2023 | 2:07 PM

TWRA fisheries biologists are considering stocking Walleye in Meadow Park Lake to increase angling opportunity and add a new target species for anglers.  Prior to stocking, biologists would like to gauge public interest through an online survey.

Natural reproduction of Walleye would be extremely limited or non-existent, and stocking would need to occur over three to four years before the agency could assess the success of the fishery. Anglers should also note it would take that long for stocked Walleye to reach a catchable size. Walleye, an extremely popular table fare, are raised in TWRA hatcheries and stocked in larger reservoirs across the state. Meadow Park Lake could offer a unique angling opportunity for Walleye in a smaller lake.

If the agency considers the stocking appropriate and a sufficient number of fish are available, the first stocking would take place in 2024. Anglers can access the survey via the link in this story on this station’s website under News.
