The Crossville City Council addressed media concerns over recent encryption of public safety radios. Mike Moser of the Crossville Chronicle spoke before council to say that news gathering has become more difficult since the encryption process, and he could see the potential for important public safety information being missed. The council was open to ideas to balance the needs of the media and first responder safety. Possible solutions would include adding certified media outlets to a text alert system. City Attorney Randy York also suggested contacting MTAS for suggestions.
