Burn Ban Remains in the City of Crossville

Nov 20, 2023 | 9:58 AM

On Monday, the burn ban remained inside the Crossville city limits and no burn permits are being issued at this time.  Anyone who sees an outdoor fire should report it to the Crossville Fire Department.  For non-emergency, the Crossville Fire Department’s number is 931-484-6144.

Fire officials across Tennessee are asking everyone to use extreme caution today (11/20/2023) as the historically dry conditions combined with gusty winds can lead to fires burning out of control QUICKLY.  The Appalachian mountains and foothills will likely have the worst fire weather conditions today, but the valley and Cumberland plateau will experience dangerous fire conditions as well. Even something as simple as a cigarette out the car window could lead to a devastating wildfire.

The weather forecast calls for rain late tonight through Tuesday afternoon, but the Crossville Fire Department is doubtful that will be enough to greatly reduce the risk of wildfire.

Burn permits are required now though May 15, 2024.
