In a Facebook post, Morgan County Sheriff Wayne Potter has revealed that he was recently diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas that has spread to the liver.
Potter said he will remain Sheriff “until the good Lord sees fit.” He is also prepared to “fight this thing with everything in my soul and within my power and use everything at my disposal.”
Sheriff Potter assures the citizens of Morgan County that the Sheriff’s Office will be in good hands during his absence. He encourages citizens to reach out to Chief Deputy Rick Hamby or any other of the command staff if they need anything at all.
Sheriff Wayne Potter said he is at peace with all possible outcomes but this news has devastated his wife, kids and family. Sheriff Potter asks that you pray for his family during this difficult time.
