Credit Card Skimmers Found at Cookeville Businesses

Police say they have found credit card skimmers in at least two Cookeville businesses.  The first one was at the Walmart on South Jefferson Avenue.  It was discovered around 8pm Monday (6/10/2024) and had been placed at a self-check out terminal around 3pm Sunday (6/9/2024).

A second credit card skimmer was discovered around 9am on Tuesday (6/11/2024) at the 7-Eleven on South Jefferson Avenue in Cookeville.  It was located on one of the convenience store’s interior check out credit card terminals. Current investigative information says that the skimmer was in place from Sunday, June 9, 2024, at approximately 4:10 PM until June 11, 2024, when the police department was notified.

Cookeville Police do not believe the suspects who placed these skimmers are local to the Cookeville area. If you made purchases at these business around these times, please check your accounts. All local businesses should inspect their terminals to ensure their devices have not been tampered with.
