The Cumberland Plateau Water Authority, in regular session on Monday, continued discussions on hiring a general manager. Board member Sean Stephens reported that 2 local persons have expressed an interest in the position. Stephens also said they would use the resources of the Tennessee Association of Utility Districts (TAUD) to run ads and solicit additional candidates. The authority is hoping to have a slate of applicants by the August meeting. Additionally, Water Authority attorney Kenneth Chadwell informed the board that he had been notified of a potential contract between Crab Orchard Utility District and the Harriman Utility Board to allow Crab Orchard to purchase water. Chadwell said the contract, if approved, would be something the water authority would have to inherit if Crab Orchard joins the authority. According to Crab Orchard General Manager Everett Bolin, discussions are underway to purchase up to 500,000 gallons a day from the Harriman Utility Board.
